Australian Volunteers for International Development

The new Australian Volunteers for International Development program, funded by AusAID, offers a range of opportunities for skilled volunteers to live, work and make a difference as part of Australia’s overseas aid program.

Launched by Foreign Affairs Minister Kevin Rudd in May 2011, the program draws together all AusAID-funded international development volunteering initiatives into one program with one name, common branding and a shared web-portal. The new, integrated program will make it easier for more Australians to volunteer their services in priority areas identified by partner countries and AusAID country program strategies.

As Core Partner of the Australian Volunteers program, Austraining International mobilises skilled, youth and business volunteers to develop and support volunteer assignments in partnership with international development organisations and NGOs.

This financial year the Government is committing $55 million to deliver the Australian Volunteers for International Development Program allowing around 850 new volunteers to be sent overseas.
