What countries can I go to?
The Australian Volunteers program managed by Austraining International places skilled Australian volunteers in developing countries in Asia, the Pacific, and soon, Latin America and the Caribbean. To see which countries you can go to click here.
Can I email a copy of my CV to the Austraining Volunteers unit to keep on file for future assignments?
All Australian Volunteer assignments are open-advertised each month so we recommend you check the assignments page regularly to see if there is one that suits your skills and experience.
Can I volunteer for a couple of weeks?
We have a limited number of short term assignments available; however the majority of assignments are 12 to 36 months. You may like to check the assignments through Australian Business Volunteers (ABV) who partner with Austraining to deliver the Australian Volunteers program.
I’m not an Australian citizen – can I still apply for an Australian Volunteers assignment?
Volunteer assignments are open to applications from Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents of Australia.
I don’t have a University degree – can I still apply to be an Australian Volunteer?
The Australian Volunteers program sends skilled Australians on its volunteer assignments and while many assignments will specify university qualifications as a measurement tool, we recognise the value of professional and life experience when reviewing applicants for a position.
I have a spouse and children – are they supported by the Australian Volunteers program?

How long does the application process take?
Each assignment will have a preferred start date but generally the application process takes between three and four months.
How much are the allowances?
Allowances vary per country and are reviewed periodically as required. For specific country allowances please contact us by clicking here.
Can I post my Australian Volunteer assignment to the Austraining Volunteers unit rather than emailing it?
We prefer emailed applications but if this is not possible we will accept postal applications provided they are received by the application closing date.
